Cooraclare N.S. opened on September 1953. It replaced the old school on the Fair Hill. That time while it was one building the boys and girls schools were separate.
Mrs Martyn Principal and Mrs Shannon worked in the girls school.
Mr Liddy Principal and Mrs Kelly taught in the boys school.
TullabrackN.S.closed on 30th June 1966 and was amalgamated with CooraclareN.S., the children being bussed to Cooraclare.
October 1971 saw a big development in the school. It included a new general purpose room, oil fired central heating, sanitary block etc. In 1972 the boys and girls school were amalgamated and became one schoolCooraclareN.S.
The staff were Mr Martin Kelly Principal.
Mrs B May Murphy Privileged Assistant.
Mrs Alice Kelly Assistant.
Miss Bernie Sheedy Assistant.
Anna Carey joined the staff in September 1974. A new position was created due to increased numbers.
In 1975 Martin and Alice Kelly retired and Gerard Kelly took over as Principal.
Eithne Burns joined the staff also.
Boards of Managements also came into force around now.
In 1978 Miss Margaret Lillis (Now Mrs Donnelly) was appointed assistant on the transfer of Miss Sheedy. Helen Burns filled the position of Eithne Burns in 1986. In 1988 this position was suppressed due to falling numbers.
Sheila Fitzgerald was employed as a shared Remedial Assistant in 1994. Due to falling numbers Mrs Fitzgerald was re-deployed in 1998.
In 2002 Gerard Kelly retired as Principal ofCooraclareN.S.having served for 25 years.
He made a huge contribution to the school in many areas but in particular in the area of information technology.
The Principal now is Mrs Margaret Donnelly and Mr John Mc Mahon has filled the vacancy caused by Mr Kelly’s retirement.
Mrs Margaret Clune joined the staff in 2002 as a Resource Teacher.
Major renovations were again carried out in 2002. A new car park was made at the front of the school and the football pitch was levelled
In 2004 the school was re-roofed.
Mrs Anna Carey retired from the staff on 30th August 2008 after teaching infants for 34 years in Cooraclare. She was replaced by Elaine Kavanagh.
On the 30th August 2009 Mrs B. May Murphy and Mrs Margaret Clune Retired.
Mrs B. May Murphy taught inCooraclareN.S.for 45 years.
